The boys and girls track teams had a great meet last night at the 3A West Region Championships. The boys place 7th and the girls placed 6th out of 17 teams.
The top boys performances were lead by senior Sahil Shrestha, who won the region championship in the high jump with a school record of 6 feet 2 inches. Schez Carter also had strong finishes, 2nd in the 300 dash and 5th in the 55 dash. Carter made it to states in both events. The boys 800 meter relay was 4th over all and also qualified for the state championship. The relay consisted of Schez Carter, Salikri Sanyo, Rasheed Gaal and Nate Vault. Congrats guys for qualifying for state championships!
The top girls performances were lead by a victory in the girls 1600 meter relay. The winning relay included, Rhoda Miller, Marian Sanko, Nana Tutu and Alyssa Rishell. In the girls 800 meter relay, Rhoda Miller, Marian Sanko, Nana Tutu and Samantha Whipp, fought a close race to finish second over all to qualify for states. In the open events Alyssa Rishell placed second in both of her open events, the 800 meter and 500 meter run. Rhoda Miller also a top finisher in the 300 dash with a 4th place finish. Congrats Ladies for qualifying for state championships!
