Wolverines News · Winter Sports Registration is NOW OPEN!

Wolverine Nation,

The high school interscholastic athletics virtual program is available to all students at the high school level – no cuts. The high school virtual athletic season consists of a minimum of three student-athlete and coach engagement sessions per week (corollary sports will meet two times per week), over the course of five weeks. The winter virtual season is scheduled to occur between October 26 – December 4, 2020.

Please note during the Winter virtual season the following sports will be provided: Girls and Boys Basketball, Wrestling, Pom Pons, Co-Ed Bocce, Swim & Dive and Indoor Track.*Please note, Cheerleading was offered virtually in the Fall season only*

All students participating in the winter virtual season, as part of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program, must complete the online registration process. If your student participated in the Fall, the registration form needs to be filled out again. Registration is done electronically through the Watkins Mill Athletics Registration form. Students and parents/guardians who have difficulty with registration should contact the Athletic Specialist, Lisa Magness at Lisa_Magness@mcpsmd.org. The registration process will be open from October 6-October 20, 2020.

Physicals: Students must have a valid physical on file with the school.  Given the unprecedented circumstances, for students who are unable to secure an updated physical, MCPS will extend the expiration date of an existing physical by one calendar year for virtual engagement.  To the extent a student does not have a physical on file with the school, the student will need to obtain one.  Due to the strenuous nature of selected activities, each student is encouraged to consult their physician concerning fitness to participate in the program.  During any live engagement, parents/guardians and students must ensure that surroundings are free of obstacles and that an appropriate plan is in place on how to access help in the event of an emergency. When we do return to in person activities, student-athletes will need to have an updated physical.

Physical forms can be found here. They can be uploaded to the google form or emailed to Ms. Magness at Lisa_Magness@mcpsmd.org. Please be sure to use the correct form when turning in a physical, no other physical form will be accepted. If you are unsure if you have a physical on file with the school, please email Ms. Magness at Lisa_Magness@mcpsmd.org.

We are excited to provide your student with the greatest education-based virtual athletics season during such unprecedented times.

WE CAN, WE WILL, WE R.A.I.S.E!
