Spring sports are set to begin on Saturday April 17th and run through Saturday June 19th. MCPS has announced the spring schedules for all 25 of the high schools. However, in order for us to be able to compete, we need student-athletes to have their parents register them through ParentVue and have a valid physical on file at the school. Competitions for Watkins Mill and our athletic programs will ONLY happen if we have enough student-athletes on the rosters of each sport to compete. We will make sure to fill Varsity rosters first and then JV rosters. This means that we may only have a Varsity level team for that sport, and all those who have registered and are cleared (meaning they have a valid physical) may participate on that roster. Coaches may decide to keep student-athletes to practice but not have them participate in games if their roster sizes allow for that.
At this time, we do not anticipate there being cuts within any of our programs. We anticipate all who register and are cleared will be able to at least practice daily with the team. This will be a team by team and sport by sport decision by the Coach, Administration and the Athletic Specialist if need be. It will be communicated to the student-athletes and parent/guardians in a timely manner if this is the case for a particular sport/team.
Registration information can be found here. It closes at 11:59pm on 4/14. So be sure to register before it is too late.
If you have any questions, please email Watkins Mill Athletic Specialist, Lisa_Magness@mcpsmd.org.
We look forward to seeing our Spring teams compete after losing out last season.
