What a game! Both teams showed sportsmanship, teamwork, and whole lot of class! Alex Chaurand, Hayden Lieberman, and Charles Schwartz (who also played exceptional defense) and Shawn Lok Luk led the scores for the game. Mateo Harp, Aliyah Pokropski played outstanding defense as well. Sammy Kessy and Isaac Kim made a terrific team that produced key goals, keeping the ‘Rines in the hunt. Marianna Gomez and Amanda Breeden were anchors in the left and right back positions, always there, and always pushing. Lucia Chaurand and Maria Hainer both played excellent wings, and provided a great model for Kourosh Zamani to follow, as this was his first game in the postion. Nate Baah was all over the place on offense, zinging balls in from all corners. The “iron man” award for the ‘Rines hands down went to Liam Curley, who played goalie until the final minutes of the games when he hurt his hand defending against one of many shots by Northwest. Demonstrating true courage, Liam hung in there for nearly the entire game, taking the best of what Northwest had to throw at him. Khalil Gholson, team manager, kept everyone up beat and into the game. All in all, Watkins Mill as well as Northwest, demonstrated the exceptional sportsmanship and exemplified the heart of what Allied sports should be all about. Great game to watch! If you missed it, check out the ‘Rines next Tuesday for the final game at Magruder, 3:30PM EST.
